If you’re lucky enough to win a spot on board our iconic America’s Cup yachts, here’s what to expect from this unique sailing experience:

You'll discover the excitement of sailing these impressive vessels. They were once part of the action of the America's Cup, the worlds' oldest active sports trophy and most prestigious sailing regatta. Get involved on the grinders, steer from the helm and find out what it takes to get one of these race yachts moving. Or if you prefer, sit back, watch the action and enjoy the view.


  • 3 hour sailing experience featuring 2 x 78ft America’s Cup Race yachts
  • A unique opportunity to participate as crew on an actual America’s Cup Yacht whilst racing on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour.
  • Take the helm, exert energy on the winch grinders or sit back and enjoy the thrill of the racing these incredible yachts.
  • Guidance from our professional crew who will be on hand to assist

Need to know:

  • You must be available on 5th April 2019 between 14.00pm-17.00pm
  • Departs from Viaduct Harbour, Auckland
  • Lifejackets will be provided for all passengers
  • No sailing experience necessary
  • Please dress to the weather and wear comfortable, flat soled shoes


Information about the America's Cup Yachts


Built and raced by Japan this vessel came second to Team New Zealand in the 1995 Louis Vuitton Challenge. NZL41 remains in almost the same configuration as when she was raced ensuring you get an authentic race experience, while minor alterations including hand rails ensure your comfort and safety.

The yacht has a keel bulb weighing 20 tonnes.

Originally commissioned for German syndicate in 2003, Team New Zealand used her as a trial boat prior to their 2007 America's Cup campaign. NZL68 is also in virtually original race configuration, while minor alterations have been made to meet with maritime safety regulations.
